George Kakarontzas is an Associate Professor in the General Department of the University of Thessaly, based in Larissa. His knowledge area is "Software Engineering with emphasis on Architectural Components". He has a bachelor's degree from the Department of Informatics of the Athens University of Economics and Business and MSc with distinction in Object Oriented Software Technology from the University of Brighton. He has also a PhD with honors from the Department of Informatics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His doctoral thesis has the tile "Quality Assurance of Component-Based Software Systems". Dr. Kakcarontza's research interests include software architecture, software engineering in general and software engineering of component-based systems in particular, software quality and distributed systems. He has many publications in these areas, in international conferences and prestigious journals. He has also participated in several European research projects. Finally, he participates as a member in committees of International Conferences and has the role of reviewer in international journals in the field of software engineering.
