Dr. Panagiotis Panagiotou is a Professor of Law at the University of Thessaly, Greece .  He teaches Civil, Business and Labour Law at the Department of Accounting and Finance.  His dissertation has the title: “The Pre-emptive Right of Shareholders in the Increase of Share Capital in S.A”. His Doctoral research was done at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Private and Private International  Law, Hamburg and he obtained his Doctor of Law at the Faculty of Law at the University of Athens.  He   published  his monograph : “The Transfer of the Business and the Responsibility for its Debts” (2011) for which he conducted post-Doctoral  Research at the Law School of Boston University, Massachusetts, while there as  a Visiting Scholar.  Following this he   published his scientific research with the title:  “The Corporate and Derivative Action against the Board of Directors in Public Companies by Shares” (2016). He   recently published “Τhe Law of Business Transformations ( Conversion- Merger and Acquisitions , Corporate Division /demergers , Spin Off /hive off of the various divisions , 2021, Sakkoulas Publications ( Athens-Thessaloniki )”. He has   published several articles on matters regarding private law and focuses on subjects dealing with Business Law. His major publications are on corporate governance. Main research interests encompass corporate, commercial and capital markets law. His main fields of interest are Private Law, Civil, Business, Labour Law and Comparative Law from a law and economics perspective.
